TICA is proud to announce the launch of its extended residency program:

TICA A.I.R. LAB

The AIR LAB consists of a re-worked profile of the existing artist in residency program of TICA. Through the generous support of Princ Claus Culturfund, and as part of the Network Partnership grant of the foundation, TICA AIRLAB will be able to organize two residency periods per year, for a period of three years. The residencies will be thematic, with a different theme to be explored every year. The residencies will also be multidisciplinary, with a focus on contemporary art but extending to other forms of expression, including theater, music, performance and architecture. Two other novelties within AIRLAB are the sending of one Albanian artist at a residency abroad, and a yearly digital publication, with documentation of the works and theoretical contributions on the yearly theme of the residency.

SOLO EXHIBITION IN TIRANA 25th June – 20th July 2011

Curated by Claudia Zanfi (Director of aMAZElab Milan) and Edi Muka (Director of TICA, Tirana)

As part of the ARCIPELAGO BALKANI project, devised by Claudia Zanfi and held in
collaboration with the Culture Office of the European Community, on the occasion of their
first solo exhibition in Tirana entitled “Alternative Tirana”, the international collective
Alterazioni Video (Milan/ Berlin/ NYC), presents the first preview of a project made up of
over 500 Polaroid snapshots taken during their stay in Albania in the summer of 2010. During
their journey, the artists observed the reality around them, exploiting the distance that sets
them apart from being inhabitants of the country. This fruitful mental state, one of active
and imaginative observation, is what all travellers find themselves in when fascinated by the
surrounding reality of a foreign country, perhaps also by virtue of the fact that they are unable
to understand it completely.

Location: Sarajevo, 20-25. June

The workshop was part of the long term project INDIVIDUAL UTOPIAS NOW AND THEN – Discontinuity of generation dialogue or what do we have in common, which is realized in cooperation with SCCA/pro.ba from Bosnia Herzegovina, http://www.pro.ba/; T.I.C.A. from Albania, www.tica.albania.org and New Media Center kuda.org from Serbia, www.kuda.org. The project “Individual Utopias Now and Then” is supported by Swiss Cultural Program in the Western Balkans, http://www.scp-ba.net
